Aristo Sham Hong Kong - 1996

 Aristo Sham was born in Hong Kong in 1996.  He is now under the under the tutelage of Professor Colin Stone of Harrow School in the United Kingdom. He is now in his Shell year (Year 9) at Harrow School in the United Kingdom. He started playing the piano when he was three years old. He joined the Hong Kong Academy for Performing Arts as junior piano student in 2002 and was taught by Miss Shirley Ip and Professor Eleanor Wong. He left the Academy in 2010 and is now under the tutelage of Professor Colin Stone in the United Kingdom.


Aristo has won a number of international and national prizes: the First Prize of Gina Bachauer International Junior Piano Competition in 2008; First Prize of the 4th China National Piano Competition; the First Prize of and the Barenreiter Urtext Special Prize of the 10th Ettlingen International Piano Competition for Young Pianists in Germany 2006 and the Grand Champion of the Hong Kong Young Musician of the Year 2006.


         Aristo has been constantly appeared in concerto performances and recitals.  Aristo has collaborated with the Hong Kong Philharmonic Orchestra, Pan Asia Symphony Orchestra, the Orchestra at the Temple Square of the Salt Lake City and the Hong Kong Festival Orchestra.


       In 2008, he was invited to hold a recital in the series of Asia on the Edge in Singapore; and in 2009 and 2010, he was invited to hold recitals in the series of Prodigies and Masters of Tomorrow of the Miami International Piano Festival in the U.S.A.


Aristo was also featured in the documentary The Greatest Prodigies in the World which was broadcast by BBC 4. He was presented the Certificate of Commendation by the Hong Kong Government for his outstanding achievements in international arts and cultural activities. He was also awarded the 2007 Young Artist Award and the 2008 Hong Kong Outstanding Teens Award.
